Grades 1-2 Assessment
Friday, September 23, the Arkansas Legislative Review approved the paper
version of the Iowa assessment for grades 1 and 2 to be administered during the
spring of 2017. As was previously communicated by the Office of Student
Assessment, an online interim Intent for Bid (IFB) was sent to vendors to seek
a replacement assessment. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the
Office of Procurement canceled the IFB. In response to this decision, the
Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) requested to use the same form of the
Iowa assessment that was administered last year for consistency in regards to
administration and test data.
The Iowa testing window for the spring of
2017 will be April 3-April 14.
regarding shipment dates and test administration training will be forthcoming.
The ADE is currently developing a request
for proposal for a K-2 online interim assessment system for
next school year.
ACT Aspire Testing
The ADE is pleased to
announce that, due to numerous conversations with ACT, the writing times for
the ACT Aspire assessment have been increased. Students in grades 3-5
will be allowed 45 minutes for the writing assessment, an increase of 15
minutes; and students in grades 6-10 will be allowed 40 minutes for the writing
assessment, an increase of 10 minutes. These changes go into effect across the
nation for the spring 2016-2017 administration of the ACT Aspire. A chart of the 2016-2017 assessment times is
