The ESSA School Index is a calculation comprised of multiple indicators that include: achievement, growth, graduation rate, English Learner progress in English Language Proficiency, and School Quality/Student Success indicators for each grade span. Assigning schools to grade spans K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 accommodates differences in the grade levels served as well as ensuring comparability across schools. The required indicators and some of the School Quality/Student Success indicators included in the ESSA School Index vary slightly by grade span. The reports contain information from the 2016-2017 school year statewide assessments, the 2015-2016 four-year and five-year adjusted cohort graduation rates, and 2016-2017 School Quality and Student Success Indicators.
Informational documents explaining the ESSA School Index and components are posted on the Arkansas Department of Education website at http://www.arkansased.gov/divisions/public-school-accountability/every-student-succeeds-act-essa.
