ATTENTION:  SUPERINTENDENTS AND CHILD NUTRITION DIRECTORS

 

The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Child Nutrition Unit is accepting applications for the 2019 Directors Certification Training. This training is for new district Child Nutrition Directors who have attended the prerequisite courses:  Managers Part 1 and Part 2.  Those new directors who will attend the 2019 Culinary Directions Manager Part 2 Training in June may also apply to attend the 2019 Directors Certification Training.

 

Child Nutrition Directors are required to be certified through the ADE, Child Nutrition Unit when they are paid from the non-profit food service account in Arkansas public and charter schools.

 

Please see the attached ADE Rules Governing the Certification of Child Nutrition Directors and United States Department of Agriculture Professional Standards for Directors for more information on the requirements to become a certified director.

  

The 2019 Child Nutrition Directors Certification Training will be held July 8-19, on the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) campus in Conway, Arkansas, in the College of Business.  Registration will be Monday, July 8 from 9:30 am until 10:00 am.  The first general session will begin at 10:00 am.  All other classes will be held daily from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, and lunch will be provided each day.

The ADE, Child Nutrition Unit will review all applications to ensure all requirements for education and recommendations are included. 

 

The deadline to submit the Application for Acceptance is May 3, 2019.

 

Once you have been accepted into the Directors Certification Program, you will receive an acceptance letter by email with a link to complete your registration.  The registration fee of $325 will be paid to UCA Outreach during the online registration process.  Should you encounter any problems with the registration process, please call Paula Myers at 501-450-3429.

 

UCA has made arrangements with several hotels in Conway to provide lodging while the workshop is in session.  Please check your email confirmations for the list of recommended hotels.  Participants must make reservations with the hotel by June 1, 2019, to receive the discounted rates.
