Memo Text

The Arkansas Department of Education has partnered with Educators Rising, Arkansas Institutions of Higher Education, and Education Service Cooperatives to host regional pre-collegiate educator recruitment events. Since data shows that 60% of teachers work 20 miles from where they graduated high school, the goal of these events is to ignite a passion for the education profession in high school students, which will in turn strengthen district teacher recruitment and retention efforts.

Events are free, virtual, and are open to all high school students. They will take place April 1-9. Events include interactive breakout sessions where students will hear from leaders in education, as well as competitions that allow students to showcase their knowledge and skills. Competitors will have a chance to have their registration for the Educators Rising National Conference paid so they can compete at the national level.

Follow the links in the attached flyer for registration information and to learn more about each regional event, including what breakout sessions and competitions will be offered at each region, or this link: https://bit.ly/3sNcb4Y

You can also contact your regional coordinator for more information.
