ATTENTION: SUPERINTENDENTS, ELEMENTARY PRINCIPALS, SECONDARY PRINCIPALS, CHILD NUTRITION DIRECTORS, CHILD NUTRITION MANAGERS, ART TEACHERS, CO-OP DIRECTORS

 

The Nutrition Committee of the Arkansas School Nutrition Association (ASNA), in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Child Nutrition Unit (CNU), is sponsoring a nutrition poster contest.  The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Month has decided for 2019 and going forward, the promotion of healthful nutrition will be its own theme.  Therefore, the poster contest theme will be open for interpretation of promoting good health through nutrition.  Please encourage your art students to be creative through their artwork, keeping in mind, good nutrition.  Keep in mind, we are accepting computer generated art as well as hand-drawn and painted art. 

 

Awards for the 5 division winners at the state level will include a $50.00 cash prize and a trophy.  See the “Entry Form” for division breakdown by grades.  The Senior Division winner at the state level will receive a $300.00 scholarship and a trophy.

 

The instructor/art teacher of each state level division winner will receive an award of $100.00 to be used toward the purchase of classroom art supplies.

 

The Child Nutrition Manager at the school of each state level winner will receive paid ASNA dues for the year 2019. 

 

In order for district winners to be considered for state competition, the attached “Art Contest Entry Form” must be completed and emailed (send to kelly.doppelhammer@arkansas.gov) NO LATER THAN MONDAY, MARCH 11, 2019.  This district “Entry Form” is required to ensure that all district level winning artwork are received prior to judging.

 

Artwork entered in the state competition should be delivered to the Child Nutrition office by Monday, MARCH 25, 2019.  All artwork must be delivered by mail or delivery service to the Child Nutrition Unit where they will be judged. 

 

A copy of the Art Contest Rules and an Entry Form are attached.

 

Prizes and awards will be presented during the month of May.
